Rule 18
Labeling instead of packaged foods

(1) Such food shall not be sold or kept for sale without labeling the container of packaged food with the following facts or details:-
(a) The description of the food items should be clearly visible on the label and if the above food items are kept in more than one baron or baron, such inner baron or baron should also be labeled. (b) The name and address of the businessperson packing or labeling the food items for sale should be clearly mentioned on the label and If the businessperson doing business in Nepal is packing or labeling the foodstuff in this manner under the instructions or on his behalf, the name of the businessperson should also be mentioned on such a label. And the address should be open,
(c) If it is made from only one food item, the real name of the food item should be disclosed and if it is a food item made up of two or more food items, then the common name of such mixed food item and the actual or popular name of the separate food items included in it and In the case of materials, the name and quantity should be disclosed according to the order of weight or quantity used. However, since water is used as a means of purification, it is not necessary to disclose its quantity and measure (d) The net weight or measured quantity of the packed food should be clearly disclosed and the disclosed measure or quantity should not be under any circumstances. If there is a food item that is sold based on the weight or quantity of the packed food container and its container, then the minimum weight or quantity including the packed container and container should also be clearly disclosed. (3) If a preservative is used in food, the words "Pure", "Chokho", "Visuddh", "Shud" etc. are written on its label or there is no false or misleading claim or indication in any other details mentioned in such label.
(4) A retailer of packaged food products shall not be bound to affix a label as per sub-rule (1) in opening the packet for sale.
(5) In the labeling of food products claimed to contain vitamins, minerals or other nutritious substances, the information required to be disclosed in accordance with sub-rules (1), (2) and (3) shall be disclosed subject to the following:-
(a) Do not disclose such vitamins and Or it cannot be claimed to have nutritious mineral elements.
(b) details of vitamins and minerals in advertisements or other promotions. It is not possible to mention that such vitamins, minerals or other nutrients are present without revealing the quantity of other nutrients. Note:- (Foods claimed to contain vitamins, minerals or other nutritious substances must clearly mention each such vitamin and mineral or other nutritious substance in the unit as specified in Schedule-9.)
(6) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-rule (5), the following packaged food items shall not be required to be labeled:-
(a) Fruits and vegetables kept fresh by using gas or by cold storage or freezing or any other system, but except in cases where they are kept fresh as written above, food items that have been canned, bottled or other processing arrangements will not be exempted according to this rule.
(b) in liquid milk other than condensed milk,
(c) In full bloom,
(d) Canned or bottled fish, various types of fish other than fleshy foods, meat, but in the case of meat, the animal's meat shall be specified in writing.It should be kept in a clear understanding, and
(e) If the food prepared in a hotel or any part of the food prepared in such manner is sold and distributed by the relevant trader by the same person, but in relation to the ghee used in the preparation of the food, in such a way that it is clearly understood in writing that it is made using such ghee, oil or greasy substance.
